Source: NOAA NCEI Storm Events Database. A city’s 10-mile circle overlaps its neighbors, so one storm can count for several cities. “Where” is NOAA’s logged location for the report and its distance from the city center.
Where does this hail data come from?
NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information Storm Events Database. We counted every hail report within 10 miles of each city’s center from April 2016 through June 2026.
Why isn’t my storm on the list?
NOAA only lists hail that someone reported to the National Weather Service. Lots of storms, especially at night or in less populated areas, are never reported, so the real count is higher.
What size hail damages a roof?
Hail about 1 inch (quarter size) and up can crack or bruise asphalt shingles, even when nothing looks wrong from the ground. Smaller hail can still dent gutters, vents, and screens.
Can you check my exact address?
Yes. With your free inspection we look up the storm dates recorded near your address and match them to the damage on your roof. That date is what your claim is filed against.
How long do I have to file a hail claim?
It depends on your policy, and many have deadlines measured from the storm date. Check your policy, and don’t wait. The longer you wait, the easier it is for an insurer to question which storm caused the damage.
