Roof first?

Should I replace my roof before going solar?

Panels usually stay up for many years. If your roof is older or hail-worn, putting panels on it now can mean paying to remove and reinstall them when the roof is replaced. A roof inspection before you sign a solar contract tells you whether the roof will outlast the panels.

If you have hail damage, a claim and a solar project are separate decisions with separate contracts. Solar never covers, offsets or rebates an insurance deductible (why).

Detach and reset

PPRBD reroof permit
