“During the inspection, they discovered hail and wind damage. Although my insurance company initially denied the claim, Allie and her team were relentless. They advocated on my behalf and successfully got the roof approved, but they didn’t stop there. Thanks to their thorough process, I also received approval for full exterior paint and gutter replacement.”

HOA rules in Fort Collins
Many Fort Collins subdivisions have HOA design rules. Class 4 shingles are required by the City on most re-roofs anyway, so we start from Class 4 products your HOA allows. Colorado law bars an HOA from requiring wood shakes or other flammable roofing and protects fire-hardened roofing materials, though HOAs can still set reasonable look-and-color rules (C.R.S. 38-33.3-106.5).
Fort Collins re-roof permit, in plain English
- Class 4 impact-resistant asphalt shingles are required when 50% or more of the roof is replaced on the portion being replaced.
- Ice barrier is required at all eaves, at least 24 inches inside the exterior wall line (36 inches upslope on roofs 8:12 or steeper).
- Overlays are allowed only as a second layer, under 3 lb per sq ft, when the maker allows it; deck gaps over 1/8 inch need solid sheathing.
- Drip edge at eaves and rakes, sealed shiners, sidewall flashing and updated ventilation are required. Repairs up to 100 sq ft are permit-exempt but still must meet code.
- Roofing permits are filed with City Building Services; the 2024 International Codes with local amendments apply to permits from April 1, 2026.

How often does Fort Collins get hail?
NOAA’s Storm Events Database lists 86 hail reports within 10 miles of Fort Collins from April 2016 through June 2026, on 23 separate days. 65 of those reports were 1 inch or larger. Many storms are never reported, so the real number is higher.
Did hail hit Fort Collins in 2026?

How long do I have to report hail damage in Colorado?
It depends on your policy. Many Colorado homeowners policies say hail or wind damage must be reported within 365 days (one year) of the storm, but your policy may say something different. Read the conditions section of your own policy or ask your agent. Report as soon as you know about damage, and don’t wait for a leak.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Fort Collins?
Permits for Fort Collins homes go through City of Fort Collins, or the county if your address is outside city limits. We confirm which office covers your home and pull any required permit.
Can a roofer pay or waive my deductible?
No. Colorado law (C.R.S. 6-22-105) bars roofing contractors from paying, waiving or rebating your insurance deductible, or promising to.
How fast can you come out?
Usually within a day or two. Book online, call, or text (720) 948-5726.
Besides roofing, do you do gutters, siding, windows and paint in Fort Collins?
Yes. We replace gutters, repair and replace siding, handle hail-damaged windows, screens and wraps, and do exterior painting in Fort Collins, usually on the same job and the same insurance claim as the roof, so one team is responsible for the whole outside.
Can one hail claim in Fort Collins cover the roof, gutters and paint?
Often, when the storm damaged them. Gutters, downspouts, screens, siding and paint are commonly part of a hail claim. We photograph every elevation so they’re on the record; your insurer decides what’s covered, and you pay your deductible.
My Fort Collins home was built in the 1990s. What should I have checked?
On a 1990s home we look closely at the roof’s age and layers, the decking, the flashing where roofs meet walls, gutter size and fascia, and any older siding or paint. Builder-grade roofs and gutters from that era are often due after a few hail seasons. The free inspection covers all of it, with photos.
